Cast be gone...

...and the Tantrums arrive...

Tonight the kids were in bed by 6:40; the sun shining brightly through our west facing windows with 1 1/2 more hours of daylight and I'm a-okay with it!

Today Ethan got his cast off, refuses to put his foot down on the ground, he and Briggs got to go to Wendy's and the bounce house with friends, and Ethan was extremely tired which was manifested in the whinning, crying and tantrums. So, it is safe to say that tonight I was counting down until bedtime; maybe Cory a little more than me. Do you ever have days like that when you ability to tune out the incessant drum of screaming and tantrums has reached its peak???? That was tonight around 6:00. We thought perhaps Ethan was done with naps....not so. This was his second day without one and we've come to the conclussion that he still needs one!

Highlights/low-lights:
-Ethan had 4 casts actually put on. The original-day 1 (green-long cast), 1 week later-two tries to get it right; same dr. visit (glow in the dark soccer balls-long cast), and third week in (short soccer ball cast)....whew!!!
-The kids loved the silly black guy who put on his cast, blew bubbles, and did animal voices
-Went through two "cast-shoes"
-Wouldn't walk on any of the casts for about a day or two
-Hardly ever complained
-By week 4 was running and racing us in the hallway as well as riding his scooter
-Did not inhibit his tackling abilities
-Hid in his closet crying this morning because he didn't want his cast off ever!!!
-The twisty-cone ice cream bribe worked....

Here are some of his pictures from his 5-week journey of having a cast:

1st cast

2nd visit-with daddy

Cute little baby cakes!
