Apparently this is how I roll these days... a post a month. But here are some of my favorite Mommy moments I captured of my kids. Have I mentioned before that I love being a Mama!! Yesterday Brooklyn said to me, "I'm learning how to be a mom someday; I'm learning how to make cookies, help out..." She is such a sweet little girl and I'm glad I'm passing on to her valuable information about how to make cookies :-)! She'll make an excellent Mama and I tell her all the time (because we have this conversation several times a week) and she always replies with"I know!" But not for 20+ more years :) And in case your wondering, yes, Sterling likes to wear Brooklyn's necklaces and rings and an occasionally high-heels of mine (it's especially funny when I'm downstairs and I hear Sterling "click click clicking" on the kitchen floor, it can only mean one thing... he's wearing my hi-heels). It's rough when you have a girly girl sister right above you in age... thankfully he is totally a rough and tumble boy who loves cars, sports and shooting hoops too ;-)

Trip to the Dentist: First trip to the dentist for Sterling; second for Brooklyn. She was the "perfect" little patient. Look how happy she is. She loved watching the tv in the ceiling. Sterling goes into comotose mode (not moving one inch, looking straight forward, ignoring the other person) when we go to any type of doctor or if he doesn't know you (we've never had a child like that); it's hilarious. He didn't exactly open his mouth willingly but he did an excellent job for his first time. The moment the attention was on Brooklyn he was a little chatterbox to the doctor and nurse. He cracks me up!
Little Composer: Ethan is hilarious! He found a song my Dad wrote and compossed years ago on the piano and he was making his own music on paper. He did this for hours and then asked me if I could play it (there was no way; though I love that he thinks I'm a good piano player) The second time he "wrote" music it was the most difficult piece you ever saw ;-) and he asked Grandma Hansen (his piano teacher) if she could play it. He cracks me up!
Bowling: Family night at the bowling alley! Sterling loved putting the ball on the track and rolling it down... and he LOVED the soda and ice! We also did a little balladium and a played a 9-hole miniature golf game and ate pizza. The kids loved it!
Go Fish won the game of the month in this house. I think we've played it at least 30 times. I love these cute photos of Sterling straightening the cards out!
High Heels: My girly girl is CONSTANTLY getting my high heels out and playing with them. A few Sunday's ago she was so insistent that I wear the black high heels. She even asked Cory which color he thought I should wear (black or white) and when he said, "ask you mom what color she wants to wear" (which I heard him say) and she came in and told me that "he said you should wear the black ones." A little sneaky if you ask me! She loves the black ones!
New Recipe: Found a yummy cinnamon swirl bread recipe here from one of my all-time favorite recipe blogs!! (I'll never make my own cinnamon chips again it was so easy) and the kids sure ate it up!
Blue and Gold Banquet: Briggs did an awesome job in the talent show playing the piano!
Snap shot Tuesday: I am rarely in the photographs (I'm sure you have noticed over the years :-) but I do want my kids to know I was there when they look back. So one day I took a few photos of me with my boys. Here are a few of my favorites!
Other notables for the month:
Sterling
is going poop in the toilet (I'm sure you're glad I mentioned it) but
no I'm not potty training yet... I will do it here in the next few
months. I've got a plan :)
Brooklyn,
as girly girl as she is LOVES to pick her nose! She also learned about
germs in pre-school this month and the
other day Cory picked her up from school and she told him how she
learned that we shouldn't pick our boogers because they have germs on
them, and she told him how she's not going to anymore (ahhh huuuuh). A
few minutes passed and he looked in
the rear-view mirror to see her picking her nose and he said, "baby, I
thought you
said you weren't going to pick your nose anymore?" and she said, "I
like to get the hard stuff!" Whelp... there you have it. I asked her
about it too and she said, "I try but it's just so hard to stop... and I
like it!" Lets just say I have not
seen a decrease in the picking of the nose since! Lets just hope she
kicks the habit before she goes to kindergarten :)
Cory
scored one of the last boxes of Twinkies from a radio station here
because of his tongue-and-cheek comment about how he deserved the box of
twinkies because of the "fake" twinkies one of the mom's at the boys
basketball game gave out after the game. His comment was pretty
funny... I just can't find it!
p.s. I think there is one more post about February's Jazz games. Hold tight... they're coming :-)
