Sledding

Saturday we had a great little snow fall; the kind that look like you're in a snow globe. So we got out all the winter gear and sled and headed to where . . . none else than the hill in our very own backyard; it is perfect for our kids. They loved sledding.

Yesterday I took the boys out and put a rope on the sled and pulled them around the yard. Briggs loved it so much that he ended up pulling Ethan around for about 30 minutes. Ethan got so upset when I took him off the sled; I guess he was enjoying it! When we are ready to go inside, Briggs tells me that he can "play outside by himself;" and he did. Unfortunately the snow isn't here to stay too much longer. We are hoping for a white Christmas in Montana.

Riding with daddy!

The one eyed little boy! Oooohhh So cute!!

I don't like my gloves mommy!!!

Accident

On Sunday we had some news that my sister Crystal and her fiance Gabe were in a car accident while driving to Billings. The accident happened in Island Park. Thankfully, they were okay and only had a few bruises and cuts. I always worry about people driving in the snow because accidents happen so quickly. It seems like we all know someone who is about to get married in the temple, or just barely married, and they are in some sort of accident or tragedy strikes. I am just so grateful that they are okay and we look forward to attending their wedding next Friday. My other sister Candace was driving right behind them and took these photos. So for all of you traveling this Christmas season, please drive carefully!

The "Santa" Card . . . you know you use it!!

With Christmas right around the corner it is a great time for us parents to pull out the "naughty or nice" cards with our kids to bribe them, if you will, to "guide" them in making good choices, talking nicely, or not "hitting your brother." At a recent play group one of the mothers, who has 4 girls, asked if we'd ever played the "fake crying" card, which I have not, but I will say that I've made a few calls to Santa this year to inform him that Briggs may be in jeopardy of Santa passing by this year if things didn't change. I know it seems dramatic or even traumatic to put that over your 3 year old's head, but it really works for him and I am proud to say that he has been a good boy this year; for the most part!!

So this morning we told the boys to have breakfast with Santa where the kids got to go eat, listen to Mrs. Clause read them a story, color a picture, then sit on Santa's lap. We decided that we only live 2/10 of a mile away from the school that we would just walk; we quickly learned that the roads were literally an ice skating rink. Cory ended up walking/sliding with the boys and I went back and got the car for the ride home. Below are some photos of our little excursion.
All bundled up!!! Snug as a bug!!

Briggs listening to Mrs. Clause read him a story.
Santa: "What do you want for Christmas?"

Briggs: "I want a football helmet for little kids and some football pads . . . " I think Briggs will be a happy boy on Christmas.

Ethan didn't care for the experience too much. He fought with all he could to get down. He definitely knows what he wants and doesn't want. He didn't want to sit on Santa's lap AT ALL!
It was a fun time!

Ohhh, Briggs . . .

Funny stories about Briggs. All last week Cory was in Indianapolis for work and about mid-way through the week i was looking to get out of the house so I took the boys shopping. We went to Gordmans and while we were there Briggs kept running and hiding in all the clothes racks. (My mom said I used to do the same thing) and so I did the, "okay, Briggs, see you later," and a few moments later he comes out of hiding saying, "mommy, mommy?" When I got his attention he came over to me and said, "Oh, there you are, you scared me!" (wonder where he gets that from).

After Gordmans we headed next door to Michaels. As we were walking down a row Briggs smacks my bum really hard. I said to him "Please don't hit my bum that is not appropriate." and without missing a beat he said "why? Daddy does it!" So, there you have it. I was laughing as I called Cory up to tell him what Briggs had said and his response to me was, "that's my boy." Oh, kids. they say the darnedest things.
