Brooklyn's first recital

 

Brooklyn had her first ballet recital a few weeks ago and she was the cutest little referee (of squirrels) this side of the Rocky Mountains.  Her part was little but cute for sure!  She loved wearing her hair in a bun and wearing make-up and mascara for the first time!

My $11 thrift store find...

 

 My heart has been doing a happy dance since I stumbled upon this mid-century beauty this past week at a thrift store.  I quickly got to work on it and within 3 hours and a little dry time I had this....

 

  And to add a little bit of fun pattern and color I essentially wallpapered (with rubber cement so I can remove or change when I so desire) some fun vintage craft paper.  I LOVE how it turned out!  It is totally my style!

 

 

It replaced a little table (that I've had since high school) that sat in the same spot that did little but collect mail and keys (and hasn't really been my style in a long time).  I'm happy to say that this beauty now holds some of my cookbooks (which were formerly in my hall closet) and some fun dishes.  I couldn't be happier with how it turned out!  I think I literally smile every time I walk by this bright piece of sunshine!  I also scored the great window at the Wild Hare Flea Market for $20 last month.

The rooster is the rooster from my Grandmothers kitchen on her ranch (that is sadly not there anymore), it was the first thing I saw coming up the steps to the kitchen when we'd come visit and holds a dear place in my heart and now it has a new home!

Easter Weekend

Easter weekend around these parts was pretty exciting because we got to have Grandma Jones down for a few days... it was a special treat!  Friday she made sugar cookies with the kids... they LOVED that!  We played games, did some shopping, ate cookies, and just hung out... it was fun!

Saturday evening we dyed Easter Eggs.  Unfortunately Cory wasn't able to join us as he was installing a stair lift system for our business, but the kids had a great time!  Sterling loved chucking the eggs in the glass jar instead of softly putting them in the cup.  There were definitely some cracked eggs under his care!  Briggs wasn't in the mood to dye eggs (he's just soooo old I guess :) so he took most of these photos; I think he did a great job!  But... he saw how much fun the kids were having then he decided to jump on in and them my mom took over on camera duty... it was nice to sit back and not worry about that aspect :)

Then Grandma helped the kids plant parsley in some blown out eggs so they could watch the plants grow this spring. They Loved that!

Sunday we went to Church and had a great day!  My mom made the adorable dress for Brooklyn with a matching purse!  So cute!  Briggs wouldn't take a serious photo so... we're keeping it real!!

Getting ready to go look for eggs.  The boys wanted to use their football helmets for baskets... I thought that was pretty clever and of course Brooklyn wanted to use her cute little purse!

Ethan found the golden egg with $1 in it!!  There were so many great hiding places in our backyard, from the shed, to the fire-pit, the dog house, the playhouse and tramp and our un-tilled garden and all the holes the mice dug in our grass this winter... the kids had a blast!

I know you're jealous of this garden ;) but it was seriously fun to hide the eggs in!!  I think we'll use that as an excuse every year to not clear our garden before winter!

When Sterling would find an egg he'd throw it as hard as he could into the helmet; it cracked me up!  Of course when he saw there was candy and chocolate inside he had to stop for a treat!

It was a fun Easter... but more than the fun traditions it is my hope that our children the true meaning of Easter... that our Savior died and was resurrected for us that we too may one day be resurrected and live with Him again.  Hope you had a wonderful Easter!!
