Cabin

The night before my grandma's funeral we all went up to stay at my other Grandparent's cabin.

Highlights included:

-Spencer falling off the Rokon going over a small stack of wood; said his foot got stuck...uh huh!

-Spencer getting the Rokon stuck on a large tree stump right before dinner and Brooklyn saying "scary" and running for us every time the Rokon started up

-Gabe floating down the river on the Rokon (though I didn't see it he said he thought he was a gonner)

-The boys swinging the hot-dog sticks over and over and getting into trouble over and over

-Brooklyn sleeping in the General Custer room on a big bed and doing great

-The boys (Briggs, Ethan and James) got to sleep in the old bunk room where I used to sleep with my cousins when I was a little girl; Briggs loved it when I told him that

-Brooklyn loving to pushing the fish that would sing and dance (she'd dance right along with it)

-Playing 4-deck rummy, and moods with the family

-Hot dogs, hamburgers, watermelon, chips and smores

-Me yelling "help me" on the Rokon and no on helping me

-Candace being the first girl willing to ride the Rokon and catching some serious air

-Taking fun pictures with my sisters

-Ethan using his hand in the watermelon bowl as a spoon over and over

I love that cabin and the memories we always make there. Here are a few of them...

The night that Cory and the boys (and Gabe) arrived from Idaho we had a little roast outside. Here are some pictures from that.

Us girls decided to take a night and do our hair the night before Cory and Gabe got into town. I dyed my hair (which really only evened out my hair color with a slight...ever so slight red in it) and Crystal cut/fixed Candace's bad hair cut and she did a great job. I tried curling Jacque's hair with her funky curlers. It was fun night filled with lots of girl talk!

The guys spent a lot of time working on the Rokon. Cory and Gabe both wrecked it once. Thankfully niether were hurt; I guess you could call it male bonding. Oh, yea, and got reamed out by one of our neighbors for riding the bike past dark. I got a kick out of that one!

Horses, fishing, gardening, family...

...it doesn't get much better than that! Here are some pictures of what we've been up...

The boys had a fun boys fishing outing while my sister and I went through her closet and downsized. Briggs showed the grown men up and caught the only fish.

Cory vows he won't be taking the boys fishing until their older and can appreciate it. Briggs was cold and tired, complained and finally ended up falling asleep. Ethan pinched his finger (and two days later still says it hurts ;-) and was complaining. Thankfully they took the camera and snapped this super cute picture though. My handsome boys!

I thought of changing these pictures to black and white for Ethan's sake ;-) because he is sporting his little-girl cousins hot-pink life jacket, but he looks pretty cute in it doesn't he?!?!?

Our kids are enamored with the horses out back. My mother-in-law's sister puts hay out so they can feed the horses and it keeps them occupied for hours; she is so sweet. Brooklyn will even go out without any shoes on; definitely a tuff girl!

Planting the family garden! What a great day and call me weird but I love to get in and get my hands dirty. Can't wait for that yummy corn and those juicy tomatoes and raspberries. Briggs and Ethan were great helpers as well, but planting the seeds is the easy part. I don't think they'll be singing my praises when it comes time to weed the garden ;-) but I'm looking forward to enforcing some good hard labor on our kids!!
