Interior Design Class Reunion

August 4th we had our 10-year Interior Design class reunion from BYU-Idaho; has it really been that long!?!?!?  It was really fun!  The weather was perfect and though we were missing a small handful, most of us were there!  It was like old times!  Really.  Everyone still with the same personalities and it was really fun to see what everyone has been up to, how many kids people had, who they were dating, where and what they did for work etc.  Deb spent some extra time with me and my family as we got together the day before to prepare food and went to dinner together.  

On the menu:  pulled pork BBQ sandwiches with onion and pickles (soooo good!), baked beans, potato salad, spinach strawberry salad, chips and strawberry lime cake.  The food was great and the company better.  Here is to another reunion in five years... (I passed the buck and Debbie said she'd take it!  I look forward to a reunion in another 5 years!)  I hope EVERYONE is there for that one!

We love these guys!  Brian was just as much a part of our Interior Design program as Tia because they were dating much of the time so it was fun to have him there!  It was also nice to have him there for my husband to have some "guy" company!

Right after Brooklyn's birthday quickly follows Ethan's.  It can sometimes get a little crazy that week and this year was no different as I overbooked myself with my 10-year Interior Design class reunion scheduled at our home the Saturday following (we set the date months ago and I didn't think that through very well) and a large family photo shoot on the Friday before.

None-the-less, Ethan's special day was nice!  We actually didn't celebrate it on his birthday on the 31st but a few days later on Thursday August 2nd.   We planned for a Spiderman cake and did a lot of internet looking for the right colors and the right cake and the cake below was born.  We actually made our own Spiderman out of fondant and it just wasn't working that great and Briggs was so cute because he kept saying, "I love it mom, you did such a nice job on that Spiderman!" and the perfectionist in me just had to let it go!  They are kids and they just love that you made it with them!  At least that is what I tell myself :)

For his birthday we had Cory's parents over and had KFC chicken, we were originally going to go to Rigby lake and picnic and let the kids play but the lovely Idaho wind had other ideas and we ended up going to Riot Zone and let the kids do the go-karts and the bounce houses.  We ate dinner and did cake and presents and then headed off to play.  Ethan got a great Michael Jackson Wii dance game and he was so excited!  He even got a sparkly glove (he's actually got some pretty good little Michael Jackson moves).  He also got a reversible spiderman costume (red/black) with spray webbing.

 It was Brooklyn's first time to be old enough to do the go-karts and you see the guy in the yellow... he was her shadow as she constantly was getting stuck, turned around etc. and he had to bail her out.  It was so stinking cute!  While the boys went another time we encouraged her to try something else and she did.  She loved the little space ship!

On Ethan's "actual" birthday I was actually watching our little neighbor friends Kyle and Savannah (who were soon to move to Chicago), and Briggs was inside when he saw the big green ice cream truck coming.  He ran to his room and grabbed his own money and sat out there waiting for it to slowly make it's way to our house.  I decided that since it was Ethan's "actual" birthday, and because we never really buy ice cream out of a truck, and it had also been a record breaking 100 degrees for the past week (I might be slightly exaggerating but not by much :) that today was the day.  The kids loved it!

Look who's the BIG 4!

So, for Brooklyn's fourth birthday last month we went to the park with her best friend Savannah and Grandma and Grandpa for dinner.  We got domino's pizza and I made a salad.  We had dinner, had birthday cake, opened presents, and then were planning on going for a ride on the ferris wheel but didn't realize it closed so early and we missed it.  Thankfully she is easy to please and we headed to the playground to play instead.

The night before her birthday she and I worked on her Ariel cake while the boys were at a father/son camp out.  I was going to use her Ariel doll for the top and while trying to bend her legs I broke it off (they aren't as breakable, or flexible as the barbies I grew up with).  So we headed out to a few stores to see if we could find another Ariel doll.  We scored with one at TJMaxx that actually sings a Happy Birthday song when you push her sea-shell.  She LOVES it!  We sure love this girl!
