5 years today...

Today is Ethan's 5th birthday but we are celebrating it next Saturday at a local water park.  I debated on whether or not to tell him today was the day, for fear of confusing or upsetting him, but he's old enough now to know that Brooklyn's birthday is only 3 days before his and he has reminded me ever day since hers that his birthday is on Sunday.  So we celebrated with some ice cream cones, which he loved (he even got two) and he is just so happy that he is 5 now and kept telling me so.  I got a kick out of him tonight as he was jumping on the trampoline he was singing, "haaaappy birthday... to me!"  We sure love this little boy.

Earlier this week he looked through all of my cake plans and didn't want to use any of them.  He has insisted on an Optimus Prime Transformer cake so it should be interesting to see what I can come up with.  After next weekend we can finally take a big sigh of relief from all the July birthdays we have...

To sum up Ethan, he simply LOVES LIFE!

How he can turn anything into an imaginary toy

He makes our life interesting and more colorful!

How easily he can get Sterling to smile and laugh

How goofy he can be; he likes to be funny (and he usually is our comic relief!)  The things he comes up with sometimes are hilarious!

How he brings out a playful side to Briggs and Brooklyn

His toothless smile

His curiosity, and questions he comes up with, about life, heaven, and whether he can be a super-hero when he grows up

How kind he can play with Brooklyn

His good little heart

He's very selfless, quick to forgive and can be sooo sweet!

He has taught us many things and I'm sure he will continue to teach us and help us grow into the parents that Heavenly Father intends for us to be.  He is perfect for our family and we are so glad that he is ours!

I hope this isn't the type of Super-hero outfit he is going for  ;-)
