Easter Sunday

I love Easter!

I love teaching our children about the message that our Savior, not only died for us, but that three days later he was resurrected.  He overcame death so that we will one day do the same.  I know He lives.  He loves us.  That knowledge brings me great peace in my life. 

Saturday night we went down to Cory's parents church and we had a nice Easter dinner with Cory's sister Mindy and her family, and his grandparents.

Judy, Cory's Mom, put on a wonderful short program for us and the kids.  She played a short movie about the Savior's death and resurrection while the kids sat on their pillows in a dark room.  After the movie she left the lights off and we talked about how there was pitch-darkness over the face of the earth for 3 days after Christ died.  We talked about that and how the people must have felt.  It was really neat.  

After that we went and make resurrection rolls.  The kids dipped marshmallows into butter and rolled them in cinnamon (or spice, like they anointed Christ's body with), then they rolled the marshmallow (his body) in the crescent roll (liked they wrapped Christ's body), and put them in the oven (his tomb).  When the rolls were done the kids opened the rolls and they were empty, just like Christ was gone from his tomb.  The kids LOVED it!  

While the rolls were baking the kids got their glow necklaces ready and the adults hid the glow-in-the-dark eggs in the gym and then we let the kids come in and find them.  They loved it.  It was fun to just see flashes of color everywhere and they darted here and there.  Then the adults got to look for an egg as a couple.  Cory and I found ours first ;-) and inside the egg there was a flier for the rodeo and Cory's parents bought us tickets to take our family to the prca rodeo this past week.  The kids loved it (photos coming soon :-) 

After the egg hunt the kids opened them all to see what they got, Briggs came away with $8 and some change and Ethan about $3.  They loved that some of the eggs had money.  We had eskimo bars, cleaned up and headed home to get ready for Sunday.  

We really appreciated all the hard work that Judy put in to make the night special for everyone!  We sure love you guys!

Sunday Morn...

Butterscotch sticky buns, dyed eggs, preparing for Easter dinner, making rolls, lots of pj wearin', getting ready for church.

 Now that is what I call "bedhead"

 The kids eggs turned out so cute.  Briggs wrote on all of the eggs, there was a "Boise State" egg, a "Go Eagles" egg, a "Decepticon/Autobot" egg (red on one side/blue on the other), a "Triceritops" egg that was red and had a little hole that he drew an eye-ball on.  

The kids really liked doing it.  We didn't do it last year so it really was a treat this year!

Sunday dinner we had Carl and Judy over (I'm bummed that I didn't think to get my camera out until after they had left), and our friends Drew (play-house friend :-) and Kaitie (who I just got to take gorgeous maternity photos of).  On the menu, chicken cordon bleu, garden salad, lion house rolls, garlic and parmessan smashed potatoes.  For desert homemade eskimo bars (brownie and ice cream covered in hard shell chocolate) dipped in homemade warm, gooey, salty caramel.  Yummy!!!

We played a friendly game of Risk after the kids were in bed to which Cory beat us after 3 hours.  Perhaps Drew will one day get to write his name in the box :-)

And because I just adore these two people and these photos are soooo them... Kaitie laughing and Drew telling stories...

It was a great weekend!
