Sweet Sweet Raspberries

On Sunday my mother in law invited us to come pick raspberries, saying there were a LOT that needed to be picked.  I had no idea when I showed up on Monday afternoon just how much!  I brought a few medium sized bowls (last time we picked we got 1 medium bowl and a small bowl).  So when we arrived and I saw a sea of red, I knew that we weren't going to be just picking for 30-45 minutes like I told Briggs and Ethan.  But, boy was I thrilled!  And so grateful!  Two hours later we ended up with a load of raspberries!  I was so excited!  It was hot... it was muggy (like mid-west humid)... but it was totally worth it!

I told the boys that if they helped out really well we could go home and have ice cream cones... it's not really bribery is it?!?!?  It was a HOT day!  I was pleasantly surprised that Ethan did NOT ONCE complain.  He was so cute!  I praised him for that when he was all done (an hour later) and his response was, "do you think that because I'm 5 now is why I didn't complain?"  I assured him that must be it!  What a sweet boy.  When he was done he said, "Thanks Mom for bringing us!"  Boy, he melted my heart.  Briggs on the other hand... well, his attitude left much to be desired.  I think that's all I'll say about that!

The end result (I brought the 3 smallest bowls that you see... obviously not enough!)
I washed and measured all the raspberries, putting them into bags for easy use in the future.  I measured around 66 cups!  That's a LOT of raspberry jam!

Thanks Carl and Judy... and to Judy for sweating out there with me for the last little bit!
