Cory's 30th!!

In the spirit of "catching-up" I wanted to post about Cory's 30th birthday!

On the Saturday before his birthday we dropped the kids off at Grandma and Grandpa's and they were gracious enough to watch them for the day while we went and floated Lava Hot Springs. It was soooo much fun; that is one of the best floats I've been on. We went 3 years ago but I didn't really remember how fun it was! I really could have gone all day long and never tired of it; and so could the other 300 people who were floating the river with me! It was a perfectly hot day and the river felt awesome and it was just a-buzz with excitement!

We met up with my sister Crystal and her husband and a few of their friends. It was a fun time! Unfortunately while we were going down our 3rd float Cory's tube flipped towards the end and he was bruised and battered pretty badly and in a lot of pain. His biggest scratch was about 4 inches wide on his back and 7-8 inches long and was just a bloody mess. It's been two weeks and it is finally looking pink and healed.

A few tips from someone who's been there ;-)

One: if you're going to float Lava get the thickest single tube you can and hold on for dear life and you probably won't flip.

Two: Wear tennis shoes or water socks (probably a give-in!)

Three: you can bargain for tube prices since there are so many tube rentals; we got an awesome deal!

On Sunday we had family over for a cafe rio bbq pork salad's (sorry Todd that you missed them ;-) maybe next family reunion), birthday ice cream cake, and presents. As always we enjoyed eating and visiting together.
